Consortium proposal
Co-authorship of an evidence-led proposal joining legal and digital-technology expertise with media and educational disciplines.
A successful Erasmus consortium connected legal, technological and educational expertise to develop practical capability against disinformation across digital networks.
While at Leiden University’s eLaw centre, Dr Mark R. Leiser co-authored the successful proposal that brought eLaw into a European university consortium supported by a €450,000 Erasmus grant.
The three-year programme aimed to strengthen the ability of current and future media professionals, media educators, public-relations practitioners and students to identify, prevent and counter disinformation. Its design recognised that the problem required legal, technological, political, economic and educational analysis rather than a single-discipline response.
Dr Leiser contributed legal and digital-regulation expertise to the successful proposal and research programme. The consortium’s planned outputs included a joint European postgraduate curriculum, accessible online, and eight e-learning modules covering the principal disciplines implicated by disinformation and fact-checking.
