Systems tested through a child rights lens

We assess how digital systems, platforms, and policy decisions affect children — not as an afterthought, but as a primary lens. Our child-specific assessments are grounded in the UNCRC, UK and Scottish CRIA/CRWIA frameworks and behavioural insights into how children engage with — and are shaped by — digital environments.

We examine the impact of profiling, personalisation, nudging, and automation on children’s rights, well-being, and development. We help organisations meet legal duties while recognising their responsibility to design for vulnerability, not just consent.

We don’t assume systems are child-neutral. We surface how they exclude, condition, or exploit — and how they can be changed.

Digital environments, designed with or without children in mind

We examine systems, platforms, and processes to assess direct and indirect impacts on children’s rights and well-being. Our assessments include:

• Purpose, scope, and intended outcomes of the system
• Data collection, profiling, and use — including automated decision-making
• Platform or service design, including age assurance
• Risk of harm to particular groups of children
• Legal exposure under the UNCRC, UK GDPR, Online Safety Act, and Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 

We do not limit our scope to age verification or child-specific tools. We assess how your system interacts with childhood itself—its constraints, vulnerabilities, and rights.

Tailored risk assessments that meet legal standards and withstand scrutiny

Our CRIA and FRIA deliverables are practical, evidence-based, and built to inform decision-making. They typically include:

• A written assessment detailing potential rights impacts and systemic risks
• A matrix mapping harms, legal implications, and mitigations
• Recommendations for redesign, governance, or procedural safeguards
• Optional briefing sessions for decision-makers, design leads, or compliance teams 

We don’t write symbolic reports. We produce documents that inform real change, policy justification, and accountability.
